Position Summary:  This position provides quality, women’s healthcare services in collaboration with Practice Physicians in accordance with Montana State Law.  These services may be provided in both outpatient clinic as well as hospital settings.

This job description has excluded the marginal functions of this position that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties.  This job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position.  Employees will be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform job-related duties as requested by their supervisor.

  • Reporting Relationship:  A primary supervising physician will be identified for NP and PA-C providers for oversight and consultation on clinical and patient care issues.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

PATIENT CARE

  • Assesses emergency, urgent and non-urgent patient needs, analyses information and data, and formulates an appropriate, individualized plan of care.
  • Coordinates patient care and collaborates with Physicians appropriately.
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate resources to meet patient needs.  Delegates appropriately.
  • Evaluates response to care and revises care accordingly.
  • Demonstrates technical competencies in performing procedures within scope of practice, training and credentialing.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to medical emergencies.

DOCUMENTATION

  • Documents assessment, intervention, patient education and response to care according to Practice guidelines and policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates medical record review by Supervising Physician(s) on a regular basis according to applicable standards and completes required documentation.
  • Accurately documents and codes all services provided in accordance with regulatory requirements and national standards.

LEADERSHIP/PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT

  • Demonstrates knowledge of ethical/legal issues and professional standards necessary for quality patient care.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Practice financial goals and actively supports achievement of those goals.
  • Adapts practice to meet the changing needs of the clinic and approaches work with optimism and flexibility.
  • Positively represents Billings OB-GYN Associates in the community.

GENERAL HUMAN RESOURCE PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintains required licensure and professional certifications and affiliations.
  • Adheres to attendance and scheduling guidelines and accurately records time on time sheet.
  • Attends staff meetings and mandatory inservices.
  • Supports schedule changes to maximize productivity and is willing to be flexible and adjust work assignments accordingly and in a positive manner.
  • Complies with all Practice policies and procedures and actively supports policy changes.
  • Complies with all safety, infection control and compliance requirements and policies and procedures.

  • Completes written documents (ie incident report) as directed and per policy.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent standing and walking for varied periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical environment.
  • Frequent exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Nurse Practitioner:

  1. Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the Montana State Board of Nursing.
  2. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
  3. Prescriptive Authority by the Montana State Board of Nursing and DEA License.
  4. BLS/AED Certification within 6 months of employment.
  5. Experience in OB-GYN/Women’s Healthcare preferred.

Physician Assistant-Certified:

    1. Licensed as a Physician Assistant-Certified by Montana State Board of Medical Examiners.
    2. Prescriptive Authority by Montana State Board of Medical Examiners and DEA License.
    3. BLS/AED Certification within 6 months of employment.
    4. Experience in OB-GYN/Women’s Healthcare preferred.

Hours:  Full Time – Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 5:00
